Myrdalsjokull Glacier Map / Location

An ice cap on the south side of Iceland and justnorth of Vik, Mydralsjokull covers the volcano Katla and is an expansive glacier of 595 km2 (230 sq mi). A popular site among hikers, the glacier receives a high amount of precipitation, making it a wet area to explore. The ice of Mydralsjokull covers the rim of Katla, measuring about 10km in size, and is layered with extremely thick ice.
