Guide TypeThe Winter Day Tour too brief for your adventurous spirit? Luckily we've got a great remedy. Immerse yourself in the beauty and solitude of Yosemite National Park in the winter season and run away with us for two days of crisp, fresh mountain air.
If you're lucky to visit after a recent snowstorm, you'll witness a Yosemite that few tourists get to see. With towering granite monoliths blanketed in snow and magnificent waterfalls frozen in time, this is an entirely new version of Yosemite National Park.
At night, kick back with a warm drink, arrange a twilight hike, or hear stories told fireside. Sleep cozily in a heated tent cabin right in Curry Village. You'll have the flexibility to craft your own experience in the unique landscape of this winter wonderland. Your expert guide can direct you to the best winter hikes in the valley, take a guided tour of the valley floor, or join a ranger program to learn about the nature surrounding you and history of the area. Snap on some snow shoes and traipse across the powdery landscape, or work on your glide at the ice-skating rink.
Only the explorer who visits Yosemite National Park in the winter months will truly understand the exquisite silence and majestic views that endeared travelers like John Muir, Ansel Adams, and Theodore Roosevelt to this astounding landscape.
Day 1
6:15 - 7:00am: Rise and shine! We will pick you up from pre-selected locations throughout central San Francisco. (Pro tip: arrive 10-15 minutes early!)
7:00 - 10:00am: As you settle in for the journey, we'll pass by some exceptional San Francisco sights. Catch views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz Island and the incomparable San Francisco Skyline as we head east on the Bay Bridge. You'll taste a piece of California's rich agricultural hub as we pass through a slice of the Central Valley famous for specialty fruits and nuts such as almonds, walnuts, cherries, and strawberries.
11:00am - 12:30pm: We'll continue into the mountains as we connect with the rich history of California's gold country, passing through some of the first settlements built during the Gold Rush. Take in the earthy forest smell as we make our way to the heart of the park. Your guide will pepper in stories and historical facts about the different sights. Be sure to listen for the logistics as we get ready to enter the park!
12:30pm: Stop for the afternoon at your accommodations at Yosemite Valley Lodge or Half Dome Village; both are conveniently located in Yosemite Valley. You'll have the option to check in or just stow your luggage at the front desk. Now is the time for you to check out the park on your own. Armed with maps, fresh air, and an adventurous spirit, you'll get a chance to explore Yosemite's natural wonders on your own for the remainder of the day. If you're having trouble deciding, your guide is equipped with expertly curated options for where is best to go!
DAY 2
7:00am - 3:30pm: Didn't get to see all the sights you wanted to? Luckily, you get a whole second day! Enjoy the sights, try out a different hike, or pick a spot to cozy up! Just make sure you're ready to meet your group back at Shuttle Stop 7 at 3:30pm for the journey back home.
3:30pm: Head back West through the mountains, orchards, and fields towards the city. Enjoy the skyline of San Francisco at night as we cross the illuminated and twinkling Bay Bridge.
8:00 - 9:00pm: We will return you to the same location we picked you up from just in time for a full night's rest or a fun night out in San Francisco.
* Please note that due to rapidly-changing conditions (weather, crowds, traffic) in Yosemite Park and the small size of our vehicles/groups, we're able to allow our guides the flexibility to tailor your itinerary to best suit the needs of the group. While we guarantee that we'll do our best to provide you with all of the highlights within this itinerary (conditions permitting), we do not guarantee them in this specific order.
* Yosemite Winter Tour Scheduling Tip: Accommodations in Yosemite park are in very high demand (especially around the holidays), and space on this tour fills up fast! We recommend that you make your reservation far in advance of your intended travel date in order to secure the style of accommodations you want. If your intended accommodation is NOT available, we will try our best to help find something for you.
