Question 1

What is the best time of year to visit Yangshuo for outdoor activities like cycling and climbing?

Accepted Answer

The best time to visit Yangshuo for outdoor activities is from March to May and September to October. These months offer mild temperatures, clear skies, and minimal rainfall, ideal for cycling through rice fields and rock climbing in the karst hills. Avoid June to August due to the humid rainy season, which can make trails slippery and obscure scenic views.

Question 2

How do I get from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport to Yangshuo?

Accepted Answer

Take the airport shuttle bus directly to Yangshuo Bus Station – services run every 20–30 minutes and take about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, pre-book a private transfer for around 200–300 CNY. Taxis from the airport cost significantly more and aren’t metered, so fixed-rate rideshare services like Didi are a more reliable option.

Question 3

Is the Yangshuo West Street safe and worth visiting at night?

Accepted Answer

Yes, West Street is generally safe and remains lively at night with well-lit walkways, police patrols, and crowds of tourists and locals. It's worth visiting for its vibrant atmosphere, street food, and handicraft stalls. Be cautious of overpriced drinks at bars and pushy vendors near main entrances, especially on weekends.

Question 4

Do I need to buy a separate ticket to bike through the Yulong River Valley?

Accepted Answer

No, there is no entrance fee to bike along the main Yulong River Valley scenic route. However, some smaller private trails, viewpoint platforms, or attractions like Moon Hill or Jinji Cave require tickets (20–50 CNY each). Renting a bike costs 20–40 CNY per day at most guesthouses or rental shops near West Street.
