West Point is a U.S. federal military reservation located in the Town of Highlights of Orange County, New York. West Point was established by former U.S. president Thomas Jefferson in 1802. The reservation was a fortified site during the Revolutionary War and was founded my military engineer General Tadeusz Kosciuszko. West Point also includes the campus of United States Military Academy at West Point, a historic federal service academy and national landmark, and is located in the western bank of the Hudson River.
