Best Maui Tours & Trips

The second largest Hawaiian island that is approximately 727 square miles is referred to as "The Valley Isle" because of its many valleys between its volcanic mountain formations. Hawaiian legend says the island is named after the son of Polynesian explorer Hawaiʻiloa, who discovered the Hawaiian islands. Maui has more than 80 beaches and its Haleakala National Park features the island's highest peak at 10,025 feet, all of which can be seen with a selection of thrilling or relaxing Maui vacation packages, offering daily Maui tours to Hana, Iao Valley, Kaanapli Beach, and numerous waterfalls and rainforests.

Best Time to Visit Maui

Winter 2026/2027
Winter in Maui brings the coolest and comparatively wetter stretch of the year - though ‘cool’ is relative: coastal highs still reach the upper 70s to low 80s °F (25-28 °C) and lows seldom dip below the 60s °F (around 15-18 °C). This is also the heart of whale-watching season, with North Pacific humpback whales arriving in waters around Maui from roughly December through March, making this a prime time for viewing from the coast or aboard a charter. Rainfall tends to increase, especially on the windward and mountainous sides of the island, with more frequent showers - though they are often brief and quickly followed by sunshine. For visitors this means you’ll enjoy a different rhythm: sunrise hikes in Upcountry or at Haleakalā feel crisp and renewed, beach days may include golden light followed by a rainbow, and the festive holiday atmosphere adds a special glow.

Spring 2026
As spring unfolds on Maui, the island shakes off the wetter winter months and shifts toward sunnier skies, with coastal highs generally in the low 70s to mid-80s °F (around 21-29 °C). Although some lingering showers remain especially on the windward side (for example around Hāna and the slopes of Haleakalā), the trade winds generally bring a pleasant breeze and the leeward coasts begin to dominate in dryness. This transitional period offers ideal conditions for exploring nature-rich zones like the famed scenic drive of the “Road to Hāna”, hiking through the rainforest of East Maui or venturing up into the macro-climates of Haleakalā. The early part of spring still benefits from fewer crowds than summer, making it a sweet shoulder season for beach time at spots like Kīhei or snorkelling at the volcanic crater of Molokini Crater. Economically you’ll also find better availability and value in accommodation than peak months.

Summer 2026
In summer, Maui truly leans into its dry-season persona: the trade winds steady, rainfall drops significantly especially on the leeward coasts, and temperatures warm up into the mid-80s °F (about 29-30 °C) though the breeze keeps it comfortable. Water temperatures peak, perfect for swimming, snorkelling or paddleboarding in locations like Kā‘anapali or Wailea. The sun-soaked beaches on Maui’s west and south shores draw families and couples in large numbers. But even amidst the activity you’ll find opportunities to escape crowds - for example a sunrise hike in Haleakalā National Park before the crowds roll in. Because the summer days are long and the weather reliably sunny, you can plan early starts. This is also peak tourist season, though for those who simply adore beaches and the sea, summer on Maui still offers near-perfect days – clear skies, warm and pleasant weather, and endless opportunities for adventure.

Autumn 2026
Autumn on Maui is often referred to as the “secret season” - the island stays warm, the ocean remains inviting, but visitor numbers begin to drop, especially after early September. Temperatures linger in the upper 70s to mid-80s °F (around 25-30 °C), and while the risk of tropical weather events is slightly elevated in early September, the overall rainfall remains low on leeward shores. This is a wonderful time to visit the lush regions of East Maui - including the gardens of Hāna or the Upcountry areas around Kula and Makawao - when the light is softer and the island feels a little quieter. It’s also a lovely time for ocean-based activities such as snorkelling at Molokini or sailing out of Ma‘alaea Bay, or simply wandering through historical towns such as Lahaina while enjoying calmer crowds. There are also local events and seasonal harvests to enjoy in Upcountry Maui as the agricultural side of the island shifts.
