Best Time to Visit Los Angeles

Winter 2026/2027
Winter in Los Angeles is mild compared with many destinations; daytime highs typically hover around 18-20 °C (64-68 °F), while nights can drop to around 9-10 °C (48-50 °F). Rainfall is at its peak for the year, but still modest compared to many places - most days remain mild and relatively bright. This is a good season for indoor-outdoor flexibility: take in a performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, explore the eclectic shops and cafés of the Melrose Avenue or enjoy the quieter beaches near Malibu for brisk walks with ocean views. Although the ocean is too cool for many swimmers, sunset vistas and coastal breezes have their own charm. It’s also a smart time to book accommodation: lower rates and smaller crowds mean you can experience posh neighbourhoods such as Beverly Hills or the Santa Monica coastline with more space and fewer tourists. While rainfall chances are higher than other times of year, storms are still intermittent and often gentle.

Spring 2026
Spring in Los Angeles ushers in a gently warming and mostly dry interval. Daytime highs rise from around 20 °C (68 °F) in March to the low-20s °C (70s °F) by May, while rainfall steadily decreases and cloud cover diminishes. The city begins to shake off the wetter winter days as the skies clear and sunshine becomes more frequent. This season is a superb time to explore iconic destinations like Santa Monica Pier and Griffith Park with pleasant outdoor weather and fewer crowds. Hike up to the Griffith Observatory in mild warmth, stroll through the palm-lined streets of Hollywood and Beverly Hills, or wander the vibrant open-air markets in the Downtown area. Coastal breezes remain comfortable rather than brisk, making beach walks near Venice Beach especially enjoyable even if the ocean isn’t yet at full summer temperature. Local festivals and blooming gardens add freshness to the scene, while iconic attractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame feel accessible before peak visitor numbers arrive.

Summer 2026
Summer in Los Angeles brings abundant sun, warmth and classic California energy. Average highs climb into the upper 20s °C (mid-80s °F) by July and August, with minimal rainfall and clear skies dominating the outlook. Days are long and bright - perfect for outdoor excursions. At the same time, you’ll need to plan around peak visitor volumes: destinations such as the Hollywood Sign viewpoint, the beachfront fun at Santa Monica and the lively crowds of Venice Beach Boardwalk all hum with energy. This is a great season for movie-set tours in Hollywood, rooftop sunsets in West Hollywood, and boat trips from the harbor near Marina Del Rey. The inland valleys and hills may get significantly hotter, so you might prefer coastal or elevated spots for comfort. Evening strolls along the promenade after dinner are especially pleasant. Do be mindful of the “June Gloom” marine-layer phenomenon early in the summer at the coast - cloudy mornings may give way to bright afternoons.

Autumn 2026
Autumn in Los Angeles offers warm, pleasant days and gradually cooling evenings as summer’s intensity fades. Daytime temperatures in September still reach the upper 20s °C (80s °F), then by November dip into the high teens or low-20s °C (60s-70s °F). Rain remains uncommon early in the season, and soft golden light makes this a particularly photogenic period. It’s an ideal time to visit the Getty Center, wander through the street art-adorned neighbourhoods of the Arts District (Los Angeles) or enjoy vineyard country north of the city while temperatures remain mild. Events such as Halloween in West Hollywood, local film festivals and al-fresco dining still thrive under comfortable skies. The seaside and hillside views maintain their appeal, and the slightly cooler evenings are inviting for outdoor dinners or rooftop drinks with a view of the skyline. As the crowds thin and the pace eases, travellers can enjoy the best of Los Angeles with fewer queues, easier bookings and relaxed access to popular attractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Griffith Observatory.

3-Day Bus Tour from Los Angeles·17-Mile Drive, San Francisco and Yosemite National Park

Best SFO Tour!!

Our tour guide was Jonathan and the schedule is in a timely manner. It’s a small group and there is enough time to see places on each spot. The number of stops during the trip are reasonable. Jonathan makes sure that we are all complete and safe before heading to the next location. The accommodations are actually really nice picks. It was definitely worth the the price.

Just a few flaws

Me and my boyfriend went on this tour about a week ago and we were not so impressed. For starters we were late being picked up, which didnt impress us to start. For the first three days while at the theme parks we were carted about in a uncomfortable vehicle with every driver we had on the tour using their mobile phones while driving. Not very proffessional. I know it is not the law out here but no matter how little you pay for a tour their main responsiblity is to keep you safe. We did not feel at all safe while booming it down the freeway with our driver being on the phone! There was also a lot of driving around involved. On one day we were picked up in a random car, taken to a housing estate (their offices or something) and left waiting in a car park for ages while we waited for another vehicle to pick us up. It was never very clearly explained to us what was going on ( a slight language barrier there). Also just a warning, do not stay at Ramada Commerce. It is in the middle of nowhere. There is nothing to do in the evenings ( there is only a Dennys and a garage) and there is no transportation in to the city. Not the sort of place you really want to stay on a holiday. The last days in Vagas and Grand Canyon were better. The tour guide made more of an effort which we appreciated, however the bus driver felt it was fine to talk on his mobile while operating a large coach, transporting 70 odd paying customers. Be warned though, you have to pay to do extra activities while there (which are quite pricey) , but if you dont there would not be much for you to do. I definately recommend you do the helicopter and boat ride, pretty incredible. Accomodation was very good in Las Vagas! Nothing to worry about there. One last thing. Make sure everyday you have cash on you for the service fee. They are quite demanding when it comes to collect there money. One day we forget to get money before we got on the bus and when we told him we would have to collect it when we got to the hotel, he laughed in our face and suggested he come up to our room to collect it!! i dont think so! Again not so proffessional. This is only our opinion but just a few words of warning, as we would have appreciated being warned of these things.

Great Tour

We took this tour during New Year time and had an amazing time with my family. Everything was planned on time, notifications were given in timely manner and well organized. It is a little fast phase, but if you like sightseeing and taking pictures, I think it is a nice tour to take.

FAQs about Los Angeles Tours

What is the best way for tourists to get around Los Angeles?

Renting a car is often the most practical choice for tourists who want the freedom to explore everything from the Hollywood Hills to the coastal beaches. However, if you prefer to avoid traffic and parking fees, rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft are ubiquitous and convenient. For specific corridors, such as traveling from Downtown LA to Santa Monica, the Metro Rail (Expo Line) is an affordable and increasingly popular option.

What is the best month to visit LA?

Los Angeles offers sunshine year-round, but the best months are March to May and September to November. During these periods, you will enjoy pleasant temperatures, averaging 70°F, and fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season. These months also help you avoid the coastal fog known as "June Gloom" and the winter rainy season, making them perfect for outdoor activities and theme parks.

What is the No.1 attraction in Los Angeles?

While the Hollywood Sign is the city's most globally recognized icon, the Griffith Observatory is a close contender as a cultural landmark, offering the best views of the LA basin and the Hollywood Sign.

What to do in LA for the first time?

First-time visitors can start with the glitz of Hollywood, walking the Walk of Fame and visiting the TCL Chinese Theatre. Drive through Beverly Hills to see Rodeo Drive, then head west to the Santa Monica Pier to enjoy the Pacific Ocean views. If you are a film fan, a studio tour, such as Warner Bros. or Universal, is a must-do to see where movie magic happens.
