7-Day Tanzania Wild Safari Tour from Arusha: Tarangire & Serengeti & Lake Manyara National Parks and Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After a short safari briefing, drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive in the park.

Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania and is located slightly off the main safari route. It is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and authentic safari atmosphere.

Your driver will set and prepare the table for a hot meal of soup, bread rolls, the main dish and fruit salad. After lunch, continue with the game drive until the evening when you'll drive to the lodge/camp site for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will travel via the cooler highlands towards the southern Serengeti and at midday you will reach the plains of the Serengeti National Park. This park is one of the largest in Tanzania and has a diversity of habitats and landscapes, short grass plains, savannah, thick bush, swamps and lakes. 

Serengeti National Park in Central Seronera is well known for its healthy stock of resident wildlife, particularly the "Big Five", named for the 5 most prized trophies taken by hunters. The Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. The reclusive leopards are commonly seen in the Seronera area.

Enjoy the game drive until lunchtime when your driver will set and prepare the table for a hot meal of soup, bread rolls, the main dish and fruit salad. After lunch, your search continues for the big cats and the "Big Five". In the evening, you'll drive to the lodge/camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you visit will depend on where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best. You will spend another night at the lodge/camp.

Rise and shine! After breakfast at daybreak, you will travel back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before you drive down into the crater. The massive collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard) to spotted hyenas, rare wild dogs and some of the more than 500 bird species of the area. After an extensive game drive and a picnic for lunch, you will leave the caldera in the afternoon and return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will depart from the campsite with a picnic lunch and descend into the amazing Ngorongoro Crater. Explore the magnificent world of diversity that lies within, surrounded by the imposing walls that encircle the reserve. It is possible to see all of Africa's "Big Five" within the crater, among a vast array of other wildlife including hundreds of bird species.

Enjoy a full day in the crater on a game drive. In the evening, you'll drive to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken volcanic caldera on earth and is home to Africa's "Big Five". Here, you can witness Maasai tribesmen living among wild animals and experience exceptional natural landscapes.

You'll depart from the lodge after breakfast and begin the drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The journey takes approximately two hours. The park is truly a photographer's playground and offers some of the best game viewing in the world. You can expect to see many of Africa's most well-known animals, with the tree-climbing lions a particular treat. These proud predators lounge in acacia trees practically begging to be photographed. Bird watchers will find Lake Manyara to be an absolute delight, with a huge variety of birds on display in the park. Even the novice can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored lilac-breasted roller.

Later on, you will drive back to Arusha.

On this day depending on your flight schedules you will be taken to the airport, if your flight is in the evening you can do a daytrip at Materuni waterfalls and visit a coffee farm.

This will mark your end of safari in Tanzania.
