3-Day Lake District Tour from London**Travel by Train to Penrith || UNESCO World Heritage**

Get ready for a lovely English holiday as you travel from London to the Lake District! Proceed directly to Euston station, where you'll collect your train tickets from Virgin Trains group tickets desk. In just three hours you'll cross through central England and pass through gorgeous landscapes. We recommend grabbing lunch on the train before arriving in the historic Cumbrian market town of Penrith. Here, your driver/guide will pick you up and you'll hop aboard our mini-coach, beginning the main part of our Lake District tour. Traveling along the northern shores of Ullswater, described as England’s most beautiful lake, where you can take a forest walk to see the mighty Aira Force waterfall. From here we'll continue onward to Keswick, stopping at mysterious Castlerigg standing stones, thought to have been built over 5,000 years ago and the scene of ancient rituals. Then we'll arrive in Keswick, a lovely market town, where you'll be free to explore after checking into our accommodations.

Following a scrumptious breakfast, we'll wind our way through the English countryside to the southern shores of Ullswater, making stops along the way to enjoy the majestic views of this beautiful lake. We'll continue south through the Kirkstone Pass towards Lake Windermere, a stunning natural body of water. Here you can join an optional cruise (own expense) or enjoy lunch alongside the lake's shores. After lunch we'll circle around the southern tip of Windermere to Coniston Water, heading towards Hawkeshead, a picturesque English village where the world famous poet William Wordsworth attended Grammar School. We'll be free to explore this little village before beginning our northern trip to Grasmere, described by Wordsworth as “the loveliest spot that man hath found.” Take some time here to see Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage or enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden by the River Rothy. In the late afternoon we'll return to Keswick.

Today we'll head out of Keswick to discover the Whinlatter Forest Park. From here we'll cross over the Whinlatter pass and witness the most dramatic landscapes in the Lake District. We'll pass through the rural village of High Lorton, enjoying a scenic drive along winding lanes, until we arrive at the shores of Crummock Water and Buttermere. Next, we'll travel through the Honister mountain pass, where we'll stop in this lovely mountain region to visit the old slate workings where a small number of Cumbrians continue to make their living. After refreshments, head from the mountains to the forests of Borrowdale as we head back to Keswick, passing Derwent Water. We'll have some free time to say farewell to Keswick with lunch and the chance to grab some last minute souvenirs. Then we'll head north to Penrith, where you'll say goodbye to your guide and board your return train to London, arriving at approximately 8:30pm.
