Located in the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, the Museum of the North features 1.4 million artifacts covering archaeology, birds, earth sciences, ethnology/history, fine arts, fish/marine invertebrates, insects, mammals, plants and documentary film. University of Alaska Museum of the North's unique building that opened in 1980 was designed by architect Joan Soranno and GDM/HGA to represent the state of Alaska. The university museum dates back to 1926.
