The Neo-classical style circular monument situated along the Tidal Basin in Washington, D.C. honors the third United States president and one of the country's Founding Fathers. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial was designed by John Russell Pope to resemble the Roman Pantheon and built between 1939-43 with a 19-foot statue of Jefferson by Rudulph Evans added in 1947.
