Third Street Promenade was created in the 1960s as a pedestrian-only Santa Monica Mall with a Frank Gehry-designed shopping center added during the 1970s and the name changed in 1989 to Third Street Promenade. It offers a large farmers market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
