This Egyptian temple was donated to the Spanish people by Egypt’s government in 1968. It is from Debod, in the Nile Valley, but a dam that was built there would have put the monument under water. Today it is surrounded by a park near Madrid’s Plaza de Espana. The temple was built in the 2nd century BC to worship the Egyptian gods Amon and Isis. There is a museum at the monument where visitors can learn more about its history.
