Best Spain Tours & Trips

Spain is a country of strong regional character, where culture, language, and daily routines vary noticeably from place to place. Cities such as Madrid and Barcelona anchor most first-time itineraries - Madrid for its museums and lively urban rhythm, Barcelona for its architecture and seaside setting shaped by Gaudí’s works like the Sagrada Família. Beyond major cities, regions like Andalusia reveal a layered history through places such as Seville, Córdoba, and Granada’s Alhambra, while northern Spain offers cooler climates and coastal landscapes. Travel in Spain often revolves around timing: late dinners, local festivals, and seasonal life define the experience as much as landmarks do.

An Expedition into Spain

Turn the tables on Spain and become modern-day conquistadors.

From region to region, city to city, Spain is a multifaceted gem of a country. Exploring the country is like getting a taste of the once great Spanish Empire, an ever-changing picture that is definitively Spanish but with a zing of the exotic.

In Spain, tourist attractions are aplenty. An in-depth exploration of the regions will let you truly appreciate what the country has to offer.

Madrid

It is from Madrid’s center, the very center of Puerta del Sol, that roads circling out to the rest of the country begin measuring their distance. The capital is literally and figuratively the heart of Spain and the best place to start getting to know it. It’s also why Spain tours from Madrid are extremely popular.

While Madrid may not seem as hip as Barcelona, it has a special charisma of its own. Its focus on art and culture is evident in its Golden Art Triangle of the Prado, Reina Sofia, and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museums, along with the dozens of other museums and galleries that dot the city.

Hang out in Plaza Mayor, wave hello to the royal family at the Palacio Real, take a stroll along the Gran Via, relax under the shade in El Retiro, and hunt for deals in the Sunday flea market that is El Rastro. Madrid can keep you going all day and all night.

Spain tour packages won’t be complete without Madrid. Many actually kick off from there.

Barcelona

The city is a world of moods. Its wonderful climate and laid-back style of living seems to be the perfect recipe for serenity and relaxation. It is. But the opposite is true as well. Barcelona is also extremely cosmopolitan and so vibrantly pulsating with life.

No modern art fan worth his or her salt can visit Barcelona without paying homage to the works of Gaudi, Picasso, and Miró. In fact, it would be hard to avoid them, they’re part most of the popular tours of the city. La Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milá a.k.a. La Pedrera are all features of the much-in-demand Gaudi-themed tours. Then there’s the Museu Picasso for Pablo’s works and the Palau Nacional—which houses the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, the largest in the region. For a true feel of the city head to La Rambla.

Other notable Spain tours from Barcelona are the daytrips to the Dalí Theater and Museum in Figueres, and to Montserrat to visit the peaks, monastery, and wineries.

Valencia

Down the coast from Barcelona, Valencia awaits. While normally overshadowed by its bigger and louder siblings, the city of Valencia is no slouch.

Enjoy a pleasant surprise and go to the City of Arts and Sciences. This totally futuristic-looking destination seems incongruous in the midst of Valencia’s traditional architecture but that’s precisely why you should see them.

A visit to the Plaza de la Virgen and the a walk or bike ride in the Jardins del Turia—a 5.5 mile long park that runs along the old bed of the Turia River—should round out the basics. Oh! And don’t forget to eat some Paella, Valencia claims to be its birthplace, after all.

Granada & Sevilla

These two are perhaps the most famous of the Andalucian cities. Granada equals the Alhambra. You cannot set foot in the city without visiting one of Spain’s most popular heritage sites and take in the beauty of its Moorish structures as well as the beautiful view of the city that it overlooks.

And then, there is Seville. There is beauty and there is Seville’s hard-to-name quality that brings to mind the balance of beauty and grace. The mix of boldly different styles—Gothic, Mudéjar, and Modern—in the city’s architecture is surprisingly harmonious instead of jarring. Plaza de España, the Alcazar, the Seville Cathedral should make it to any list.

The region is also the best jump-off for Spain-Morocco tours and Spain and Portugal tour; being at the southern part of the country and closest to the North Africa makes it quite convenient. Arrange a crossing by bus and ferry, by train, or by plane.

Best Time to Visit Spain

Winter 2026/2027
Winter in Spain is mild on the southern coast, with daytime temperatures often around 12-16 °C and rarely dipping far below 0 °C, while inland and northern highlands (such as the Sierra Nevada) may see frosts, snow and colder nights. Winter rainfall is more frequent in the north-west and along the Atlantic seaboard, while the Mediterranean coast stays relatively dry and tranquil. Seasonal highlights include festive events in Madrid and Barcelona, winter sun-seekers on the Costa del Sol, and ski resorts opening in mountainous zones like the Pyrenees or Sierra Nevada. Days are shorter and the pace slower, making city visits, museums and local gastronomy very appealing with fewer crowds and lower accommodation rates.

Spring 2026
As winter loosens its grip across Spain, daytime temperatures rise steadily from about 13-16 °C in March to around 20-22 °C by May in places such as Madrid and the Mediterranean coast, while nights often remain cool. Rainfall can be frequent in the northern Atlantic regions, while southern areas shift into sunnier skies. With nature awakening, the almond-trees bloom in Andalusía, the historic streets of Barcelona fill with terrace-life, and the Camino de Santiago routes become accessible for longer day excursions. Festivals such as the Holy Week processions in Seville and the tulip displays in the north mark the season. Crowds are lighter than in summer and the green-hued landscapes of the Picos de Europa or the vineyards of La Rioja gain new charm under gentle sunlight.
Show All
Summer 2026
Summer in Spain brings hot, dry days across much of the country, especially inland regions like Madrid or Seville where daytime highs regularly reach or exceed 30-35 °C, and sometimes much higher in Southern mainland Spain. The Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands (for example Mallorca) enjoy strong sunshine and warm sea temperatures, though the north (such as the Atlantic-facing region around Bilbao) remains somewhat cooler and occasionally cloudy. Beach resorts fill up, boat trips and seaside dining dominate holiday hours, and the cultural rhythm of cities like Barcelona or Valencia pulses late into night with open-air concerts and festivals. Inland, countryside escapes and historic town visits contrast with the heat of midday by favouring early-morning or late-evening outings. Expect peak-season prices and crowded hotspots.

Autumn 2026
Temperatures begin to moderate in autumn: September may still bring warm days around 25-27 °C on the Mediterranean coast, but by October and November they tend to settle into the 15-20 °C range during the day while evenings turn cooler. Rainfall becomes more likely, especially in northern and western Spain where Atlantic influences bring clouds and wetter spells. The harvest season unfolds in wine regions like La Rioja and Ribera del Duero, and city promenades in Seville or Granada take on softer light and less bustle. The beaches remain usable into early autumn, especially in the southern coast and islands, and countryside routes, such as around the Pyrenees, show rich changing foliage. Visitor levels ease after August, giving cultural sites, walking routes and scenic drives a more relaxed feel.

I loved that this wasn’t just about the big city tours. We got coastal beauty in Santander, historic sites in Tordesillas, and modern vibes in Bilbao. The Gothic Quarter in Barcelona was the cherry on top—so atmospheric at night.
