Soroa is a village in the province of Pinar del Rio and located only 59 miles (95 km) southwest of Havana. It is known as the “Rainbow of Cuba” for the rainbow that appears over its 99-foot (30 m) waterfall. People come to this tiny settlement for its diverse flora and wildlife. The growth of orchids and tall trees, some of which grow to 131 feet high (40 m), is promoted by the region’s heavy rainfall. Soroa also features some great birdwatching and hiking.
