The Similan Islands, a protected national park off the coast of Phang Nga, are often considered Thailand’s best diving destination. Famous for their crystal-clear waters, giant granite boulders, and vibrant coral reefs, the islands attract divers from around the world. Unlike the Phi Phi Islands, which are about atmosphere, the Similans are about pure nature. They’re only open to visitors from October to mid-May each year, helping preserve the marine environment. A day trip or liveaboard diving tour gives you the best chance to see whale sharks, manta rays, and pristine underwater landscapes.
