Home to Spain's largest theme park PortAventura and the water park Costa Caribe, the Spanish city along Spain's Costa Daurada - or Golden Coast - is a popular tourist destination. Salou had been used as a port by the Greeks and Romans since at least the 6th century B.C. It was the location where James I of Aragon and his fleet departed from in 1229 to conquer the Balearic Islands. Salou is also known for its beautiful beaches and sunny weather.
