Best Rideau Canal Tours & Trips

Linking the Ontario cities of Ottawa and Kingston, this picturesque 126-mile waterway's name is French for "curtain" for the two waterfalls where the Rideau River joins the Ottawa River as it looked to Samuel de Champlain when he explored it in 1613. Rideau Canal has been the longest continuously operated waterway in North America and was established in 1832. It is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization World Heritage Site and National Historic Site of Canada. During the winter, a portion of the Rideau Canal in Ottawa turns into the largest ice skating rink in the world.

Perfect for Exploring Multiple Cities

I can’t recommend this enough! The tour was very well organized, and we visited multiple cities with seamless transitions. Our guide was friendly and had a great sense of humor. The hotels were excellent—clean rooms and great service. I especially loved exploring Boston’s history and Toronto’s modern skyline. The tour was packed with highlights! Ottawa Winterlude was a feast for the eyes, and the Quebec Winter Carnival brought so much joy. The Ice Hotel was like a piece of art, and dog sledding was so much fun. Every part of this trip was well-organized and worth it!
