This beautiful historic 80-foot-tall beacon in Cape Elizabeth, Maine is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the United States. Portland Head Light was constructed from 1787-91 upon orders from George Washington when Maine was still part of Massachusetts. It is located in Fort Williams Park where the lighthouse keepers' house is now a museum. Portland Head Light is Maine's oldest lighthouse and is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
