Best Plaza De La Merced Day Trips & Things to Do

The Plaza de la Merced is a popular rendezvous in the afternoon and evenings. It’s located at the top of Calle Granada in Malaga. The square gets its name from a church that was built here in 1507, but it was burned down and demolished in the 1900s. Today, the Plaza de la Merced is lined with popular cafes and surrounds an obelisk monument that honors General Torrijos. The square sometimes hosts events as well. Be sure to visit the house where Picasso was born, which is now a museum on the north side of the square.
