Average daytime highs in January, the coldest month, hover around 13°C (55°F), with night temperatures rarely dropping below 5°C (41°F). This is the rainiest season, which can limit hiking and sometimes disrupt coastal ferry schedules. This is the low season for tourism, which means you’ll benefit from minimal crowds at the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and the lowest hotel prices. The season is best suited for focusing on the city's rich indoor culture, including its world-class museums, ornate churches, and, of course, seeking warmth by indulging in the city's famous hot pizza and coffee.
