Best Musee D Orsay Day Trips & Things to Do

The Orsay Museum (Musee d'Orsay) along the left bank of the Seine houses the largest collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world. Works dating from 1848 to 1915 are displayed in the central nave of what was once a train station built in anticipation of the 1900 World's Fair. Once you're done gaping in awe at the architectural splendor of the barrel vault, be sure to check out the artwork on display in the adjoining galleries on the first and second floor, or head up to the top floor to the recently-renovated dining area for a light snack and even more art appreciation.
