Best Mt Rigi Tours & Trips

Rigi, known as the Queen of the Mountains, rises gracefully above Lake Lucerne, offering some of Switzerland’s most breathtaking alpine views. Accessible by the historic cogwheel train from Vitznau or Arth-Goldau, it’s one of the few peaks where you can descend by boat, gliding past the charming towns of Weggis and Beckenried. At 1,752 meters, Rigi Kulm delivers panoramic vistas stretching across the Swiss Alps to Germany’s Black Forest on clear days. Hikers enjoy a web of trails, including the scenic route from Rigi Staffel to the flower-drenched meadows near Rigi Klösterli. Winter brings peaceful snowscapes and gentle sleigh rides, while sunrise from the summit - best seen from the Observation Deck - remains a timeless highlight. Whether you come for nature, heritage, or serenity, Rigi balances grandeur with gentle charm.

1-Day Rigi - Queen of the Mountains Tour from Zurich: Aerial Cable Car, Cogwheel Train, Lake Lucerne

Beautiful sites to visit without hassle

It is a self guided tour. The buses will pick you up from Zurich and leave you at the bottom of Mount Rigi. You are given tickets for the tram and the train which takes you up to mount Rigi. You are free to explore the breathtaking views and enjoy the lunch with plenty of time to explore the mountain. You really do not need a tour guide for this tour. You then return via train to the bottom of mountain where you take a ferry to Lake Lucern. Again, you have plenty of time to explore Lucern where you are picked up at a designated spot. It would have been nicer to have a guided tour of Lucern but the map provided by the company was more than adequate for that purpose.Overall, I would recommend this tour as it provides a seamless experience without the hassles of traveling to and from the Rigi mountain and takes care of tickets for all the necessary rides. You are mostly free to enjoy the beauty of Switzerland.
