Originally formed from limestone deposits that are over 365 million years old, Maligne Canyon was steadily carved from glacier scrapings and the waters of Medicine Lake. This natural wonder extends for 160 feet (50 meters) deep into the ground and is filled with waterfalls, underground rivers and streams, fossils, rich plant-life, and nests for raves and the rare black swift.
