Best Library Of Parliament Day Trips & Things to Do

This stunning Victorian High Gothic Style building that opened in 1876 is the information and research center for Canadian Parliament and is featured on the country's $10 bill. Library of Parliament, which is located in Centre Block on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario, was designed by architectural team Thomas Fuller and Chilion Jones to resemble The Reading Room at the British Museum. It has 16 flying Buttresses, decorative stone carvings and a marble statue of Queen Victoria. The library, which contains a collection of 600,000 reference materials, was the only Parliament structure to survive a 1916 fire due largely in part to its iron doors.
