The first shot fired during the American Revolution or "The Shot Heard 'Round the World" was here in the Massachusetts town of Lexington on April 19, 1775. Lexington Green's history is marked by The Revolutionary War Monument, Lexington Minutemen Relief and The Minuteman Statue. The U.S. National Historic Landmark was first built in 1711. There is an annual re-enactment of the Battle of Lexington Green on the site.
