Best Lake Winnipesaukee Tours & Trips

New Hampshire's largest lake has a surface area of 71 square miles and is a popular vacation spot - especially for New Yorkers and New Englanders. Lake Winnipesaukee has a Native American name meaning either "smile of the Great Spirit" or "beautiful water in a high place." Back in 1872, a strange egg-shaped stone was found with various symbols while laborers were digging in the region. That artifact is now displayed at the Museum of New Hampshire History. Lake Winnipesaukee has more than 250 islands and hosts many activities throughout the summer months.
