Both the United States Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed at this historically significant Philadelphia structure that once had the famed Liberty Bell in its Bell Tower. Independence Hall was finished in 1753 using a design by Andrew Hamilton and Edmund Woolley under the orders of the Pennsylvania Colonial Legislature. Other important events that happened in this building were the appointment of George Washington to head the Continental Army in 1775, adoption of the U.S. Flag design in 1777 and the Articles of Confederation approval in 1781.
