Best Guatapé Tours & Trips

Rising from the turquoise waters of a man-made reservoir, Guatapé offers a vibrant escape just hours from Medellín. This charming town is famed for its zócalos, colorful bas-relief murals that adorn nearly every building facade, turning streets into an open-air gallery. Dominating the skyline is El Peñón de Guatapé, a massive granite monolith where climbers ascend over 700 steps to witness breathtaking panoramic views of the sprawling lake and islands below. Visitors can kayak through narrow inlets, explore the bustling main square, or hike surrounding hillsides dotted with luxury villas. The area's unique landscape emerged after hydroelectric dam construction in the 1970s, creating a distinctive archipelago perfect for boat tours. Local restaurants serve traditional antioqueño cuisine like bandeja paisa, adding rich flavor to this visual feast. Whether seeking adventure atop the rock or leisurely strolls along cobblestone lanes, Guatapé delivers an unforgettable Colombian experience blending natural wonder with artistic flair.

16-Day Classic Colombia Tour from Bogotá · Cocora Valley, Nutibara Hill, Tayrona National Park, Taganga

Hands down one of the best tours I’ve joined. Highlights: street art tour in Bogotá and coffee plantation visit — legit unforgettable. The booking/payments went smooth, no weird fees later. The only tiny minus was one long bus ride, but that’s just travel life lol. Highly recommend!

9-Day Colombia Express Tour from Bogotá·Armenia, Salento, Medellín, Cartagena and Guatapé | Cocora Valley

It was a thoroughly enjoyable tour. Even with my asthma and sensitivity to altitude, I was able to fully participate and enjoy everything, thanks in no small part to the attentive support of our CEO—remarkable especially since I’m nearly 77 years old. The group itself was another highlight: a pleasant mix of nationalities, all well-traveled and considerate, with not a single "bad apple" among us. :)
