Best Grand Canyon National Park Tours & Trips

This 1,904-square-mile national park established in 1919 spotlights the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon - one of "The Seven Wonders of the Natural World" and nearly 2,000 million years old. Grand Canyon National Park consists of the natural wonder's North, East and South Rim with the latter attracting the majority of the tourists with its viewpoints, lodgings, services and activities. Mule rides are a popular activity and should be booked well in advance. The park is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site and was featured on the 2010 "America the Beautiful" quarter collection. Points of interest are the Grand Canyon Visitor's Center, Grand Canyon Village, Desert View Drive, Hermit Road, Yavapai Museum of Geology and Phantom Ranch. Almost five million people visit the Grand Canyon per year. Its West Rim is maintained and operated by the Hualapai Native American Tribe.

3-Day National Parks Lodging Winter Tour from Vegas: Grand Canyon, Zion, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell & Monument Valley | Max 13 Small Group

Highly recommend!

Joel & The Tours4fun team put together a memorable, informative and most enjoyable 3 day tour of the canyons. The time in the vehicle between the canyons and stops may have been long but Joel made sure we had enough rest stops to stretch our legs. He used the time in vehicle to share his wealth of knowledge and experience of the area and we felt it added significantly to the experience. It is alot of driving but completely worth it to see the spectacular sights. The accommodations booked for each night were more than comfortable, with great amenities and close proximity to resturants for the evening meal. The staff at each hotel were friendly and happy to help in any way. (my son left a parcel at our 1st hotel and due to the distances we travel, we could not return to collect it, but the hotel made a plan and sent it to our final desitination before flying home). The food was plenty and very tasty, the stand out lunch was definately the fry bread taco at Goulding's Stage Couch diner. The itinerary was amazing and covered everything and so much more. The stop for lunch on day 1 in Seligman and the historic Route 66 was fantastic. Having conversations with the townfolk (super friendly) and walking the streets was very enjoyable and so many opportunities for photos. We did the optional Helicopter ride and would highly recommend it to give you a view of the Grand Canyon that is unparalleled. That 1st sight of the Grand Canyon takes your breath away. The sunrise on day 2 from the north rim of the Grand Canyon was emotional and breathtaking. As you drive with a guide through the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park later that day, you are transported back in time and Stephen our guide brought its history and people to life. Ending the day with sunset at Horshoe Bend gave me goosbumps and stunning photos, along with significant memories made. One of the highlights was walking through Antelope Canyon with our guide on the morning of day 3, it was mesmerising and we were awestruck by its beauty. The time spent in Zion National Park was exhilarating, we enjoyed lunch and then hiked to the Emerald Pools all the while enjoying the majestic mountains surrounding us. Photos do not fully capture the grandure and the majesty of Zion Canyon. All the while, Joel is exoanding our knowledge and minds with information about all the places we visted or even just drove past. I canot recommend this tour enough, if you can only choose one tour to do on your holiday, you have to do this one with Joel.

FAQs about Grand Canyon National Park Tours

What is the best time of year to visit Grand Canyon National Park to avoid crowds and extreme heat?

Visit Grand Canyon National Park between mid-April to early June or September to mid-October. During these months, temperatures are mild (60-80°F), crowds are smaller, and trail conditions are ideal. Summer brings peak crowds and temperatures over 100°F on the canyon floor, while winter brings snow and road closures at the South Rim.

How do I get from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon National Park using public transportation?

There is no direct public transit, but you can take a Greyhound bus to Williams, Arizona, then transfer to the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim. Alternatively, book a shuttle service like the CAT Route 11 or a guided tour from Las Vegas, which includes round-trip transport and entry.

Is the Grand Canyon shuttle system free, and does it operate year-round?

Yes, the National Park Service operates free shuttles on the South Rim year-round, including the Village, Kaibab Trail, and Hermits Road routes. Shuttles run every 10-30 minutes, reducing traffic and providing access to major viewpoints. The North Rim shuttle operates seasonally (mid-May to mid-October) and is also free.

Do I need a permit to hike the Bright Angel Trail to the Colorado River?

Day hiking on Bright Angel Trail does not require a permit. However, if you plan to camp overnight below the rim (e.g., at Phantom Ranch or Bright Angel Campground), a Backcountry Permit from Grand Canyon National Park Backcountry Office is required and must be reserved months in advance due to high demand.
