This gorgeous destination along Pacific Coast Highway in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles features art, architecture and gardens from or reminiscent of Ancient Rome and Greece. The Getty Villa originated from industrialist J. Paul Getty's gallery he built next to his home in 1954. Its collection has 44,000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan relics spanning 7,000 years. The structure was designed to resemble after the Villa dei Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy. The villa along with the Getty Center in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles make up the J. Paul Getty Museum.
