There are 16 historic landmarks on this red brick 2.5-mile trail highlighting Boston and its important role in the American Revolution. Freedom Trail is lined with the significant sites of Boston Common, King's Chapel, Massachusetts State House, King's Chapel Burying Ground, Old North Church, Paul Revere House, Faneuil Hall, Old State House, Old South Meeting House, Bunker Hill Monument, Copp's Hill Burying Ground, the Boston Massacre site and the USS Constitution. The trail was established in 1951 at the suggestion of journalist William Schofield.
