This Northern California coastal city is home to both the the Six Rivers National Forest and the North Coast Redwoods District of the California State Parks System. Located on Humboldt Bay, Eureka had been home to the Wiyot Native Americans before Europeans came up on the bay in 1849. Its name like California's state motto means "I found it" in Greek.
