This architectural masterpiece was designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch in neo-Gothic style with Germanic features. The architect was asked by the Amatller family in 1898 to renovate the 1875 building. Casa Amatller along with Casa Batllo and Casa Lleo Morera make up "Manzana de la Discordia," or the "Block of Discord" in Barcelona. There are occasionally exhibits displayed on the ground floor and the public can visit the caretaker's office.
