Britannia Beach was named after Britannia Mountain where copper was discovered in 1888 and the Britannia Mine was soon established. It is a National Historic Site of Canada and features the Britannia Mine Museum. Britannia Beach also attracts many tourists for its recreational activities such as hiking, boating and skiing.
