Sitting atop a rocky promontory on the site of a former fortress, this viewpoint offers spectacular vistas of Spain's Mediterranean coast. A statue honoring King Alfonso XII, who coined the name "The Balcony of Europe" after being impressed with the scenery, is a popular spot for photographs. Musicians and artists are often found here entertaining the crowds, and it plays host to numerous fiestas, concerts and processions throughout the year. The adjoining plaza is home to many great bars and restaurants with outdoor seating.
