Best Ayers Rock Tours from Alice Springs

Also referred to as Ayers Rock, this Australian landmark is a 2,831-foot tall sandstone rock formation that is one of the main features of Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. Ayers Rock is considered sacred to the aboriginals and has been declared a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. It is located near many springs, caves and ancient drawings in the country's Northern Territory, approximately 280 miles from Alice Springs. Surveyor William Gosse spotted the rock and named it in honor of the Chief Secretary of South Australia Sir Henry Ayers in 1873. The name Uluru comes from its name in Pitjantjatjara.
