Best Aqueduct Of Segovia Tours & Trips

This Roman aqueduct is one of the most important and well-preserved in all of Spain. Constructed by the Romans over 2,000 years ago to bring water from the nearby mountain springs into the city, its imposing presence in the city makes it an enduring symbol of Segovia, and is even featured on the city's coat of arms. Due to pollution and vibration from automobile traffic, cars are banned from the area, lending it an even more authentic and ancient feel.

1 Day Tour to Toledo and Segovia with optional Avila from Madrid

We had a great time on our tour to Segovia and Toledo from Madrid. Very comfortable bus and we loved our guide Steffi! She was very informative as well as entertaining. Both city tours had both guided and personal time which was great. Toledo has lots of steps so if you have mobility issues take note. Segovia is our favorite and this was our second visit. The Alcuzar tour is not guided so read up on its history.....it's amazing! Thanks for a great day!

FAQs about Aqueduct Of Segovia Tours

Is the Segovia Aqueduct free to visit and are there guided tours available?

Yes, viewing the Segovia Aqueduct is free 24/7, but climbing it is prohibited to preserve the structure. Free walking tours often start near Plaza del Azoguejo at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. For in-depth history, book a guided tour through the Segovia Tourist Office - tours typically cost €12 and last 90 minutes, covering Roman engineering and medieval restoration.

How do I get from Madrid to the Segovia Aqueduct using public transportation?

Take a train from Madrid-Chamartín or Madrid-Príncipe Pío to Segovia-Guiomar station (about 30 minutes, €6–€10). From there, board bus line 2 or 3 to Plaza de Felipe VI, a 5-minute walk from the aqueduct. Renfe Cercanías trains and Autobuses La Sepulvedana buses run hourly from Moncloa Station if departing from central Madrid.

What is the best time of year to visit the Segovia Aqueduct to avoid rain and crowds?

Visit between April and June or September to October for mild weather and fewer tourists. Segovia’s rainy season peaks in November and April-May can have scattered showers - carry a light raincoat. Summer (July–August) draws large crowds; arrive at sunrise (around 6 a.m.) to photograph the aqueduct without people.

Can I visit the Segovia Aqueduct at night and is it lit up after dark?

Yes, the aqueduct is accessible and beautifully illuminated 24/7. Night lighting enhances its granite stonework and arches, making it ideal for evening photos. The best views are from Calle del Aqueduto or Plaza del Azoguejo. Exercise normal nighttime caution - stick to well-lit areas and avoid isolated side streets after 10 p.m.
