This port city along the Costa Blanca has cuisine to write home about and legendary nightlife. Since Alicante is close to airports and resorts, it has more tourists than some coastal towns in eastern Spain, but there’s much to see here too. The 16th century Castillo de Santa Barbara looks out over the city and has a museum for visitors.
