Showa-shinzan Map / Location

Shōwa-shinzan is a volcanic lava dome located within Shikotsu-Toya National Park in Hokkaido, Japan. It emerged between 1943 and 1945 following seismic activity. The mountain continues to emit sulfur fumes, and its surroundings offer spectacular scenery. Nearby Lake Tōya and the hot spring area are also popular tourist destinations. Visitors can hike to viewpoints or take a ropeway for panoramic views of the volcanic landscape.
