Schwatka Lake Map / Location

Formed by the damning of the Yukon River in 1958, Schwatka Lake is located near Whitehorse. Popular for cruises, fishing, and swimming, the man-made lake also helps power Whitehorse and provide water to the city. During the winter months many of the hiking trails surrounding the lake become cross-country ski routes. Among the wildlife beavers and deer frequent the area, and the waters are utilizes for salmon migration.
