Plaza del Callao Map / Location

This pedestrian-only square in downtown Madrid was named after an 1866 battle between Spain and Peru. Plaza de Callao is one of Madrid’s more modern squares and is located at the confluence of some of the city’s most popular shopping streets such as Calle del Carmen, Calle de Preciados, Calle Jacometrezo and Gran Via. Here you will find the Carrion Building, a symbol of Madrid; the Press Palace, once the tallest building in the city; and the Callao Cinema Building, a distinctive Art Deco structure.
