See Sweden’s sunniest city which is often used as a base for outdoor enthusiasts who invade the Värmland countryside in droves. Karlstad, the capital of Värmland County, is somewhat sleepy during the day but has a large student population, which makes for a lively nightlife, and is located approximately halfway between Stockholm and Oslo so is a convenient stopover.
