Cape Spartel Map / Location

At the southern entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar is Cape Spartel, the most northwestern point of continental Africa. Cape Spartel is only 7.5 miles west of Tangier, making it an easy excursion from the city. Here guests can catch views of the strait and the Spanish coast or visit the yellow stone lighthouse that Sultan Mohammed III had built in 1864. The lighthouse is still active today! Then, visit the nearby Caves of Hercules: a popular destination believed to have been partially created by the Phoenicians.
