Visit a real movie set as seen in the academy award winning “the lord of the rings” and “the hobbit”. Let us take you on a magical journey through middle-earth for a fascinating fullyguided tour to the largest “green” movie set in the world. Travelling by coach south from Auckland over the Bombay Hills to the farmland of the Waikato region. Make your way through the heritage town of Cambridge where tree-lined streets add to the Englishstyle atmosphere and through undulating green fields as you approach Hobbiton Shire. On your arrival at ‘Midddle Earth’ and the Shires Rest your guide will recount the fascinating details of how the magical Hobbiton set was created. The 44 Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, the Mill, Bilbo’s home, the Party Tree and other structures created for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Hobbit films. See how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into “Middle Earth’. Following the tour a drink at the Green Dragon Inn and lunch at Shires Rest are included in the tour package.
