The tour begins with a ride by the scenic red rocks of Sedona, into Oak Creek Canyon—one of the top scenic drives in America! Continue through the largest Ponderosa Pine forest on the continent, past the dormant volcanoes of the San Francisco Peaks on our way to the South Entrance of the Grand Canyon.
Head up to Sunset Crater National Monument, the last volcano to erupt in Arizona around 1064 A.D. Here, you will be able to stroll amongst the dormant volcanoes and pristine lava fields as you learn about the history and geology of the area. These lava fields were used by the Apollo Mission in the 1960’s to train their astronauts and practice their Rover missions.
Next, we travel to Wupatki National Monument, a well-preserved ruin site of the Sinagua Indian tribe. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Ballcourt, the Kiva (ceremonial gathering point for the tribe) and the ruin itself. Learn about the people that lived here and their unique way of surviving this harsh landscape. Then continue through the Navajo Nation to visit a local trading post to have a sit down lunch and afterwards spend time to enjoy the great selection of arts and souvenirs.
Upon arrival at Grand Canyon National Park, tour the South Rim drive for multiple stops at dramatic viewpoints. Then enjoy time in the Grand Canyon Village area for views or a nature walk before checking into your local accommodations.
