Itinerary

Immerse yourself in the Creole and Cajun cultures of Southern Louisiana on our Belles to Bayous Tour, featuring Destrehan Plantation, the oldest documented plantation home in the Lower Mississippi Valley. Learn about the Creole system of slave management, Louisiana statehood, life on a sugar plantation and French colonial architecture at the ongoing exhibits. Video recording inside the plantation home is strictly forbidden. After our tour of the plantation we'll head to privately-owned Manchac Swamp for a close encounter with the long-term residents of the bayou. Please note that certain wildlife are more active during spring and summer. This tour does not operate on Mardi Gras Tuesday and Thanksgiving day.
