About Parque del Oeste

This beautiful wooded park was designed to provide a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of Madrid. During the Spanish Civil War, the park became a battlefield, with trenches and bunkers still visible at the park's northern end. At its southern end is the Temple of Debod, an authentic ancient Egyptian temple given to the Spanish government as a present. Throughout the park are walking trails and benches, views of the Casa de Campo stretch out below, and its Rose Garden is particularly gorgeous.
