Summary of The Day: Grab your friends and family and join us for an all-inclusive, private tour to Yellowstone National Park. Just bring your camera and a spirit for adventure and we'll take care of the rest. We cater to individuals, but for the best experience we can bring up to 6 travelers without any changes to the price.
Upon leaving your hotel in Jackson Hole, you will stop at Big Thumb by Yellowstone Lake.
For some of you that will be the first time seeing Yellowstones fumaroles, hot springs, warm springs and the huge lake, which all rest on an elevation of 8000 feet. The magma underneath Yellowstone Park heats rain water and melting snow at about 8 miles below the earth surface, which then finds way back to the surface in the form of mud volcanoes, fumaroles, geysers and hot springs.
Your tour route will lead you to Hayden Valley, home to wolves, Grizzlies, buffalo, and even bald eagles. Further up the road is the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, which houses two waterfalls, the Upper and Lower Falls of Yellowstone. It is one of the must see locations in the park and will leave you awestruck at the sheer size of it.
Next up is Norris Geyser Basin, just a few miles away from the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and is home to magnificent hot and warm springs. One of them has greenish colored water, due to sulfur. The Steamboat Geyser and a huge furmarole are also some of the attractions of Norris Geyser Basin.
Once you leave Norris Geyser Basin, the next stop will be the Mud Volcanoes of Yellowstone. Here you will find bubble mud pools, hot springs, and sky blue warm water. Then you will stop at the Grand Prismatic Springs, where from a distance you will notice rainbow-like colors of hot steam rising up the in the usually blue sky. Bacteria and chemicals line the shores of the spring as well as the banks of the stream runoff. It is one of the five must sees in the lower loop.
As you drive further in the park, south, before you reach Old Faithful Geyser, you may stop at the Black Sand Basin. It has an emerald hot spring, where a rare spider subsists. You will also find several warm and hot springs spouting water intermittently as if it is staged.
Old Faithful will be your last stop on your Yellowstone tour. The warm geyser shoots out water from its vent every 90 minutes, plus or minus 10. Watch the people around it and witness the relief, joy and amazement in their faces when the geyser erupts. Old Faithful perhaps draws more people than any other geological feature in Yellowstone National Park.
Pick-up is at 6:00am. Please be ready in the lobby 15 minutes early.
Please include your hotel name and address in the "Reservation Request" box during booking.
Our safaris are very suitable for children. In general, all our safaris are great for all family members to share and remember. Our guides are experienced with and facilitating an interactive learning experience for kids. We feel that from about 4 years old and up, kids can very effectively use optics and participate in the safari experience. Playing in a meadow or along a stream and looking at natural curiosities are great activities for small children.
We can accommodate any level of desired activity, from total motorized safari to all day hikes. To be able to see certain features, you may be required to walk. In most cases, an auto tour with short walks will allow us to see all the major features.
We do not guarantee any particular species, though many of the most dramatic (wolf and bear) are seen at a very high success rate, particularly during certain seasons and in certain localities.
Generally the weather doesn't affect us in a negative way. Keep in mind this is a dry climate and the weather is generally excellent. If we simply have rain or snow, you will probably be much better with the day reserved with us, since we are best able and equipped to deal with the vagaries of mountain weather.
Average daytime temperatures mid-winter are about 28'F to 30'F. Winter nighttime temperatures may be less than 10'F. Average summer temperatures may be in the 80's with lows in the 40's. These are averages, so keep in mind the range of temperatures can be quite a bit more dramatic. The best way to deal with this range of temperatures is to have a layered garment system such as: windproof jacket, vest, sweater, heavy shirt and undergarments. One rule of thumb: even in summer, consider bringing one more layer than you expect to need. Of course, in all seasons: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and sturdy walking shoes. Rain gear is also a good idea.
In general, footwear should be sturdy, broken-in walking shoes. In summer, light hiking shoes are good for day hikes and general touring. Heavier boots are better for backpacking. Snowboots ("PAC" style, or "Sorel" style with rubber bottom and leather upper) are best for snowshoeing. Some type of shoe or sandal which you can get wet and swim in is best for river trips.
