In the morning we'll meet our guide and the rest of our group as we start our amazing tour through the UK.

We'll kick things off with a scenic drive to Calais. Our coach will either cross the English Channel by ferry or via Eurotunnel, ultimately arriving at Port of Dover. Enjoy the drive across the beautiful English countryside en route to London.

Tips:
There is a Euro 10 dollar toll per passenger to cross the English Channel, payable to the tour leader prior to departure. You will not be allowed to board the motorcoach until the toll is paid in full.

We'll begin our thrilling UK tour with a walking tour of London's major attractions (exterior only): Big Ben, House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, 10 Downing Street, Whitehall, St James Park, Buckingham Palace and River Thames.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the famous British Museum, and if time allows, St Paul’s Cathedral. You'll enjoy the scene of Tower Bridge and Tower of London while on board the motorcoach.

We'll stay overnight in London or a neighboring city.

York, England

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart London to visit one of England's most prestigious educational institutions: Cambridge University, comprising King’s College and Queen's College, among many other world-famous faculties.

After exploring this historic city we'll journey to York, a true medieval melting pot of Roman, Saxon and Viking heritage. Mostly intact from the Middle Ages, the city is emblematic of England's more bucolic side. We'll visit York Minster, the largest Gothic cathedral in northern Europe. Then we'll step up onto the York city walls, dating back to Roman times.

For those keen to discover the little grass-roots shops, there will be ample time to explore.

Day 04
Glasgow

York - Edinburgh - Glasgow

Today we'll cross the border into Scotland and visit the country's compact but fascinating capital, Edinburgh, the perfect representation of Scottish heritage. Wooden barrows of gold single malt whiskey, checked kilts and Scottish bagpipes will make you grow fond of this lively nation full of quirky characters.

First up on the agenda is a visit to Edinburgh Castle (admission not included) where we will admire the oldest royal crown and jewelry. From here we'll continue down the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace, City Hall and the Royal Parks. You may also opt to join us for a visit to JK Rowling's Ivory Cafe, where Harry Potter was penned, to enjoy a cup of coffee (own expense).

Accommodations for the evening are in Glasgow or a neighboring city.

Manchester

In the morning, we'll head back across the border to the Northwest of England. Here we'll drive straight to Lake Distric, and en route we'll make a stop in Gretna Green, a village in the south of Scotland famous for ‘runaway marriages’ dating back to 1754.

The most famous and visited national park in England, the Lake District National Park is a picturesque landscape of rolling hills, stunning lakes, and beautiful foliage. Each year tens of thousands of visitors travel here to see thousands of years of geological changes reflected in the lakes, valleys, mountains, and waterfalls. You may opt to join a cruise on Lake Windermere (own expense), or hop off at the World of Beatrix Potter.

We'll end the day with a drive to Manchester, the headquarters of Manchester United, as well as England’s most industrial metropolis. Football fans will enjoy a pilgrimage to the Manchester United Old Trafford grounds.

Today we'll travel from Dover to Calais by ferry. After the one and a half hour ferry crossing, we will arrive in France and drive back to Paris.

Luxembourg

Today we'll begin our exploration of mainland Europe as we depart Paris and drive out into the rolling countryside of Champagne, famous the world over for its sparkling white wine. Along the way we'll learn about the region's history, traditions, and architecture while we visit Reims, where every king from the 11th century on was formally anointed.

Our last stop on this day is Luxembourg, the world's only remaining grand duchy. Here we'll encounter the Adolphe Bridge, Place de la Constitution and the Alzette River Valley.

We will stay overnight in Luxembourg or a neighboring city.

Day 09
Koblenz

Luxembourg - Trier - Koblenz - Frankfurt

Hotel: Mercure Hotel & Residenz Frankfurt Messe / Novotel or similar

From Luxembourg we'll cross the border into Germany and visit the historic Trier, Germany's oldest city and the former capital of the Western Roman Empire. Also known as the hometown of Karl Marx, the father of Communist thought, we'll get to visit his former residence, which now houses the Karl Marx Haus museum.

After a lesson in ideology, we'll make our way to Porta Nigra, the largest and most well-preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps. Then we'll drive to Koblenz, the town located at the confluence of the Rhine and Mosel Rivers.

In the summertime you will have the option of joining a scenic river cruise on the Rhine (admission not included).

We'll make a short stop in Ruedesheim to see the Niederwalddenkmal, a monument built in the late 19th century to commemorate the founding of the German Empire.

Finally, we'll arrive in Frankfurt, the largest financial center in all of Europe. Here we'll take a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting the exterior of the following attractions: Old Opera House (Alte Oper); Roemerberg, the historic heart of Frankfurt; St. Paul's Church, where Germany's first united constitution was drafted by the freely-elected National Assembly; and Die Zeil, Germany's busiest shopping street.

In the morning we'll depart Germany and cross the Czech border in the early afternoon and Prague by dusk. Commonly referred to as Zlata Praha, or Golden Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic is a resplendent vision of Old World glory.

Bratislava

We'll begin our introduction to Prague with a spectacular walk along the coronation path of the kings and queens of old Bohemia.

Starting at the top of Castle Hill in the Hradcany District, we'll visit Prague Castle first, official residence of the president of the republic, and according to Guinness Book of World Records, the largest ancient castle in the world. Fees for the castle also include admission to Golden Lane, a street of 11 historic houses situated inside the castle complex, and the imposing St. Vitus Cathedral.

Crossing the Charles Bridge, we'll enter the old quarter and see the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square, which has played host to both uprisings and executions, and remains the political and cultural heart of the city to this day.

After lunch in the square, we'll make our way to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. We'll pass through the heart of the city by coach, with views of the magnificent Bratislava Castle and St. Martin's Cathedral.

We'll stay in (or near) Bratislava overnight.

Following breakfast we'll say farewell to charming and prestigious Bratislava, departing for Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

Upon arrival we'll take a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting Heroes' Square, featuring statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other important national leaders, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; the Hungarian Parliament Building; Elisabeth Bridge; Fisherman's Bastion (admission not included); and Matthias Church (admission not included).

You will then have the option of joining the scenic Danube River cruise (admission not included).

We'll spend the night in Budapest.

Here we'll visit the stunning Schonbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the Imperial family and preferred living quarters of Empress Maria Theresa. From here we'll journey to Stadtpark (City Park), home of the gilded bronze statue of Johann Strauss; the Austrian Parliament Building, the world-famous Vienna State Opera, and Hofburg Palace.

After a stroll along the Kartnerstrasse we'll arrive at St. Stephen's Cathedral. Tickets for a Viennese Waltz concert may also be arranged (at your own expense).

Following a scrumptious breakfast we'll begin our journey into the Alps, traveling to the fabled city of Salzburg, birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and setting of the Sound of Music.

Once we arrive we'll take a tour of the historic Old Town, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Afterwards you'll have the option of visiting the house where Mozart was born and raised (admission not included).

Our hotel for the evening will be in Munich or a neighboring city.

Swiss Alps

Munich - Mount Titlis - Lucerne - Zurich

Today we'll cross from Germany into Switzerland, traveling through the Swiss alps and its illustrious cities.

Traveling along mountain roads, we'll slowly wind our way up to the snow-capped giants of the Alps. Once in Engelberg, we'll take the gondola 45 minutes up to Mount Titlis (admission not included), 10,623 feet above sea level. We can also step inside a glacier cave and stroll across the Titlis Cliff Walk, Europe's highest suspension bridge. You may opt to have your lunch at one of the several dining options at the peak.

Afterwards we'll drive to picturesque Lucerne to see the Lion Monument and venture into the narrow alleyways to find the perfect souvenir. Shops selling Swiss watches are also in abundance here.

We'll spend the night in Zurich or a neighboring city.

Tips:
Effective January 1, 2018, if weather and traffic permitting, we might take a photo stop in one of the smallest country in Europe - Lichtenstein.

Schaffhausen

Zurich - Rhine Falls - Titisee - Frankfurt

Today we'll introduce ourselves to the main attractions around beautiful Zurich, the financial capital of Switzerland.

Our first stop will be Lake Zurich for some of the best photo opportunities of the day, followed by a trip to Schaffhausen to see Rhine Falls.

Then we'll take the mountain roads back across the German border to see the Black Forest and Lake Titisee. The optional lunch by the lake includes pork knuckle and authentic black forest cake.

Finally, we'll return to Frankfurt and end our tour.
