Located just north of Budapest, this Hungarian town along the Danube River is the site of the majestic Visegrad Castle. Visegrad was first written by name in 1009 and was later moved after a Mongol invasion during the 13th century. Hungarian King Charles I made Visegrad the Royal Seat of Hungary in 1325. It was changed to Buda in 1405. Other notable sites are the Citadel, Solomon Tower, Sibrik Hill and two thermal baths.
